Nutrients of Food

A balanced nutrition covers all nutrients in the right amount to meet daily needs. With the proper combination, particularly important nutrients can also be taken into account. The natural components of food consist of carbohydrates, proteins, fats, minerals, vitamins, dietary fibers, and water.

Nutrients of Food

Bio-Products for a Natural Diet

Due to industrialization and population growth, cheaper methods are used to produce a lot of food for little money. Artificial breeding of plants and animals can have chemical burdens or genetic changes when fertilizers and pest control agents are overused. Animal products may be overloaded with medications and hormones under certain circumstances. A large part of processed foods also contains flavors, taste enhancers, and chemicals to suppress the natural decay process.

To avoid unnatural burdens, bio-products can be highly recommended as legal guidelines for producing these products must meet certain conditions for biological and ecological value. A healthy person needs to take in all important nutrients from food: 50% carbohydrates, 30% fat, and 20% proteins. Vitamins, minerals, and dietary fibers should be able to be taken in with this composition. A lot of water is contained in fruit and vegetables. Overall, the body should receive between 2 to 4 liters of water per day depending on physical exertion.

Carbohydrates are the main energy providers for the body. To cover carbohydrate needs, cereal varieties in the form of whole grain products and fruit are suitable. This way, dietary fibers can also be taken in, and a large portion of vitamins and minerals can be covered. Vitamins and minerals are also found in herbs and vegetable varieties. The most important vitamins are Vitamin A, B, C, D, E, and K. Vitamin B exists in various subgroups. All vitamins, except for the B-vitamins, require some fat for absorption.

Nutrients Essential to Life

Minerals and trace elements mainly need water to take over important organ functions in the body. For muscle building, after sufficient carbohydrate intake, proteins are primarily needed. Proteins are found predominantly in nuts, fish, meat, and dairy products. These products also contain natural fats from the start. As an additional fat supplier, plant oil is suitable. Plant oils have a high content of Vitamin E. However, consumption should be kept low due to their high calorie content as well. To sufficiently take in calcium, mainly dairy products are suitable. As another calcium supplier, vegetables are suitable. Vitamins and minerals are particularly concentrated in herbs.

The selection of food nutrients is very important for maintaining health and can easily prevent deficiencies. Pregnant women, for example, need to pay attention to additional supply with folic acid as the neural development of the embryo is particularly dependent on this vitamin. Folic acid is also known as Vitamin B9 and is found in egg yolk, beets, whole grain products, tomatoes, nuts, green leafy vegetables, carrots, asparagus, and broccoli. In wheat germ, chicken liver, and veal liver, the folic acid content is represented at its highest values.
